Project Principal - Public Transport Planning at Mott MacDonald. This is a senior leadership role in the Transport and Mobility Solutions Division to lead the public transport planning and advisory business stream, with a focus on bus planning, bus operations and franchising, and including LRT and rail planning.Responsibilities
Leading our public transport planning and advisory teamGrowing our public transport planning and advisory offer to support our clients in meeting their goalsUnderstanding the needs of our clients and their major projectsLeading the pursuit and bidding of public transport projectsProviding technical advice in bus and rail planning and developmentLeading technical coordination and client-facing technical leadershipSupporting project teams to deliver detailed scheme development and implementationCoordinating across disciplines to provide a holistic offer throughout the whole lifecycle of a project to deliver our clients’ needsEnsuring the commercial success of projectsWhat We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with experience of leading public transport planning or advisory projects, combined with experience in team leadership and work winning. You may have some of the following:A degree in a related discipline (or equivalent)MSc or further qualifications in transport planning or transport economics (beneficial but not essential)Membership in a relevant professional organisation (such as IHT, ILT, TPS, or ICE), ideally as a chartered professional or TPPProven track record in leading public transport schemes for buses and/or rail. This could be in roles within the public transport industry, the public sector or consultancySignificant experience in technical leadership, stakeholder engagement and client relationshipsCommercial acumen and a business-focused mindsetSuccess in business development activities and winning new workSenior skills in planning for public transport projects, including demand modelling/forecasting, transport business cases, wider transport economics, transport policy and strategy, network planning, bus franchising, electrification, decarbonisation, bus-related infrastructure development and designStrong communication skills with clients and colleagues, and excellent report writing abilitiesWe Can Offer
