Our consultancy client is seeking Project Planners on a permanent basis to work on a secondment model supporting South East Water projects based out of Snodland offices.

Our client is supporting on the delivery of a significant programme of capital investment across water and wastewater infrastructure assets. As part of an ambitious programme to modernise networks, improve resilience, and meet environmental commitments, they are seeking talented Planning professionals to support the successful delivery of major projects across their portfolio.

We are recruiting for a Project Planner to support the planning, monitoring, and control of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Commercial teams, Design teams, and Delivery Partners, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust project schedules that support successful project delivery.

The role will suit an experienced planning professional with a strong background in infrastructure, utilities, engineering, or construction projects and a passion for driving project performance through effective planning and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create baseline programmes and monitor progress against agreed milestones.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and identify schedule risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
  • Produce regular planning and performance reports for project and programme stakeholders.
  • Support project teams in forecasting completion dates and resource requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial, engineering, and delivery teams to ensure alignment between programme, cost, risk, and scope.
  • Assist with project controls activities including schedule assurance and performance analysis.
  • Facilitate programme review meetings and provide planning expertise to project teams.
  • Support change management processes and assess the impact of changes on project schedules.
  • Ensure programmes comply with contractual requirements, governance standards, and client reporting expectations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning and project controls processes.

Skills/experience/qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Planner, Project Planner, Planning Engineer, or Senior Planner role.
  • Experience working on infrastructure, utilities, civil engineering, engineering, or construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning methodologies and project controls principles.
  • Demonstrable experience in planning, monitoring, and controlling project delivery.
  • Expertise in Primavera P6.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience undertaking critical path analysis, resource planning, and programme management.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery environments.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and communicate planning impacts effectively.
  • Water industry experience, including water or wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • NEC3 and/or NEC4 contract experience.
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
  • Experience in programme-level planning and reporting.
  • Knowledge of risk management and schedule risk analysis techniques.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Exposure to estimating, cost control, and wider project controls functions.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC).
