Project Manager (Rail) - Leicester
Our client, a principal contractor specialising in rail infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee earthworks and soil-related activities across their client''s site in Leicester. The successful candidate will provide technical support, coordinate project activities, undertake inspections, and ensure all works are delivered in accordance with Network Rail standards, company procedures, and client requirements. Previous experience in both rail infrastructure and earthworks is essential.

Role and responsibilities
- Act as the lead for earthwork activities under the direction of the clients.
- Coordinate engineering resources to ensure planned works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
- Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with approved documentation including Construction Phase (CPP), Work Package Plans (WPP), Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and task-specific instructions.
- Support the delivery of maintenance and renewal projects from initial scope through to completion.
- Support the business in all the relevant civils and earthwork activities.
- Coordinate day-to-day earthwork activities across multiple sites.
- Undertake inspections, condition assessments and prepare technical reports.
- Assist with the development of inspection plans, work packages, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Monitor defects and support the development of rectification programmes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to Team Leaders and maintenance personnel.
- Ensure maintenance and renewal works are delivered in accordance with Network Rail standards, company procedures and client requirements.
- Carry out site audits and safety inspections in accordance with company and contract requirements.
- Assist with incident investigations and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding ongoing works and asset performance.
- Support the monitoring and development of workforce competence where required.
- Undertake Safety Critical duties in accordance with competencies held.
- Ensure all documentation, reports and records are completed accurately and submitted within required timescales.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Maintenance Manager.
- Produce and review technical reports, inspection findings and maintenance recommendations.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the Maintenance Manager and clients.
- Attend client meetings, site briefings and progress reviews as required.
- Support the management of subcontractors and specialist suppliers working on the contract.
- Promote and maintain high standards of safety, quality and environmental performance
- Cascade relevant safety information, lessons learned and technical updates to maintenance teams.
- Ensure all engineering works comply with Network Rail standards, company procedures and contractual obligations.
- Assist with the identification of future maintenance requirements, asset renewals and improvement opportunities.
- Provide engineering assurance and technical support for maintenance interventions, inspections and defect rectification activities
- Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across the contract.
