Our client, a leading Design & Build contractor within the water sector are seeking an experienced Project Manager near Nottingham.
This is a full time position, sponsorship cannot be offered so candidates must have full RTW in the UK.
Role Overview
Manage and deliver mechanical and electrical projects within the water and wastewater sector. Responsible for planning, budgeting, resource management, and client liaison, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Regular site visits and occasional overnight stays are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead water industry projects from contract award to completion and handover.
- Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with WIMES, BS 7671, and client specifications.
- Oversee site activities, coordinating engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Prepare and manage project documentation: RAMS, progress reports, quality records.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure safety and quality.
- Act as primary client contact, building strong relationships.
- Manage procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services.
- Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support commissioning, testing, and handover processes.
- Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, MCCs, pipework, and instrumentation.
- Proven project management, financial oversight, and contract management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and lead teams effectively.
- Commercially aware with strong planning and organisational skills.
- Proactive, solution-focused, and committed to quality and safety.
Essential:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Significant experience managing projects in the water industry, utilities, or heavy engineering.
- Familiarity with WIMES specifications and client standards.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- Professional Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
- SMSTS or site safety management training.
- EUSR Water Hygiene and confined space training.
- Experience with MS Project, Primavera, or other planning software.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary M&E teams.
