Project Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Site Agent or Project Manager to join a busy civil engineering contractor delivering power and energy-related civil engineering projects across Central Scotland.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys taking full ownership of delivery, keeping projects moving, and working closely with site teams, clients and commercial colleagues to make sure work is completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required standard.
You’ll be joining a highly successful contractor with a strong reputation for quality, collaboration and integrity, across decades in Scotland. There is a healthy pipeline of work, a supportive environment, and a real focus on development and doing things properly.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management and successful delivery of civil construction projects, with a focus on programme, cost, quality and health & safety.
Key duties will include:
- Managing labour on site and ensuring work is carried out effectively, correctly and to specification.
- Producing accurate daily reports and keeping project records up to date.
- Carrying out weekly cost reconciliations for plant, labour and materials.
- Managing the implementation of health, safety and environmental plans.
- Assessing scope of works prior to commencement.
- Identifying additional works and relaying this information to the Quantity Surveyor.
- Attending client meetings as required to monitor contract performance and support business development.
- Representing the business at pre-start, progress, final account and internal handover/cost meetings.
- Administering contracts to meet the requirements of statutory bodies such as SEPA, HSE, local authorities and service providers.
- Interrogating designs for buildability and supporting contractor design portions through to sign-off.
- Ensuring quality inspections are completed and project requirements are met.
- Producing and maintaining project programmes.
- Preparing progress reports and chairing progress and technical meetings.
What we’re looking for:
- HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related construction discipline.
- Proven experience as a Site Agent or Project Manager.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, Project and Outlook.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in power and energy-related civils projects would be highly desirable.
