Project Manager
Build Maintain Recruit is recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join an established engineering business in Devon. This is an opportunity for someone with experience delivering civil engineering or infrastructure projects to take responsibility for construction delivery, client relationships and project commercial performance.
You’ll manage projects from planning and mobilisation through to completion and handover, working closely with clients, designers, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
The Role
• Manage construction projects, ensuring delivery to agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards.
• Act as the day-to-day contact for clients, attending progress meetings and providing project updates.
• Procure and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring performance and managing payments.
• Monitor budgets, costs and forecasts, preparing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Administer construction contracts, including variations, early warnings and compensation events where applicable.
• Prepare and maintain construction programmes.
• Prepare or review risk assessments and method statements, supporting compliance with CDM and site health and safety requirements.
• Liaise with the design team to resolve technical queries and coordinate changes during construction.
• Coordinate project handover documentation, including as-built and quality records.
About You
• A degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant equivalent qualification.
• Experience delivering civil engineering or infrastructure construction projects.
• An understanding of project financial management, including budgets, forecasting and cost reporting.
• Working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
• Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and client relationships.
• A sound understanding of CDM 2015 and construction health and safety.
• Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team.
• Confidence using Excel and construction programming software.
• A full UK driving licence, with flexibility for occasional UK travel and overnight stays.
Experience on Design & Build projects, progress towards professional membership, and qualifications such as SMSTS, SSSTS or a CSCS card would be advantageous.
