Project Engineer Location: Rural Dartford, DA2, Regular travel to project sites around South East and London Contract: Full-time, Permanent, 37.5hours a week.

  • Support Project Managers in delivering construction projects across life safety projects, from planning through to handover.
  • Help keep projects on programme and within budget, coordinating clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Ensure project documentation, certification and handover records are complete, accurate and traceable.


Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) and ensure they are issued to site in good time.
  • Produce project reports covering progress, quality and programme, escalating potential delays early.
  • Compile certification and handover documentation for life safety systems.
  • Support accurate project records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Receive and coordinate site deliveries.

Site & Resource Coordination

  • Coordinate site deliveries, plant, materials and labour to minimise delays.
  • Attend site and client progress meetings, recording actions and ensuring they are followed through.
  • Support the Project Manager in managing subcontractor performance against scope, programme and quality standards.

Commercial Control

  • Track project costs against budget and report variances to the Project Manager. Training provided.
  • Identify variations and additional works and maintain accurate records of instructions, delays and site events. Training provided.
  • Support applications for payment and cost-to-complete forecasts. Training provided.

Client & Team Communication

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Maintain clear written records of decisions, instructions and project communications.
  • Communicate progress, issues and potential delays clearly and proactively.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Work in accordance with company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Support responsibilities under CDM Regulations 2015, as directed by the Project Manager and appointed duty holders.
  • Work to relevant technical standards and third-party certification requirements applicable to each project.


Person Specification

Essential

  • Previous industry experience in fire alarm or smoke ventilation - not essential - full training will be provided.
  • Valid CSCS or ECS card - Essential
  • Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications and system layouts. Training provided.
  • Organised, confident and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent using common project management and reporting software.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
  • Experience compiling certification and handover packs for life safety systems.
  • Familiarity with third-party certification schemes such as BAFE.
