Project Engineer – Gatwick Airport

Are you a Project Engineer with experience delivering major civil engineering or infrastructure projects and looking for your next contract opportunity?

Red Sky Personnel are recruiting for a Project Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a major airside infrastructure project at Gatwick Airport.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a live operational airport environment, supporting the delivery of reinforced concrete and associated civils works. The project includes large daily concrete pours of up to 100m³, requiring strong engineering leadership, technical coordination and close collaboration with the Project Manager, site teams and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer with a strong civil engineering background who can take ownership of engineering activities, support the management of site operations and drive quality throughout the project lifecycle.

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Supporting the Project Manager with the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works

• Managing engineering activities across reinforced concrete and associated infrastructure packages

• Coordinating Site Engineers, subcontractors and technical teams

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and resolving technical queries

• Managing QA processes, inspections, ITPs, RFIs, NCRs and engineering documentation

• Supporting the planning and successful delivery of daily concrete pours

• Monitoring progress and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification

• Promoting a strong safety-first culture across the site

• Previous experience working as a Project Engineer, Senior Engineer or similar within civil engineering or major infrastructure projects

• Strong background delivering reinforced concrete, highways, drainage, utilities or heavy civils packages

• Experience managing engineering teams and coordinating subcontractors

• Good understanding of QA processes including ITPs, inspections, RFIs, NCRs and engineering records

• Experience reviewing technical drawings, resolving engineering issues and supporting project delivery

• Knowledge of temporary works, RAMS and construction methodologies

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering (preferred)

• Valid CSCS Card

• Strong communication, planning and organisational skills

• Contract opportunity until November 2026, with the potential for extension

Please note: Due to the nature of the project, successful candidates will be required to obtain airside security clearance. This includes eligibility for a DBS check, the ability to provide a continuous five-year employment history (or suitable references for any employment gaps), and meeting airport security requirements.
