Overview

My client are seeking an experienced Project Buyer to join my clients procurement team on a 12-month contract with the potential for extension. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely sourcing, ordering, and delivery of both direct and indirect materials to meet production and business needs within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.Responsibilities

Send RFQs and raise Purchase Orders for both direct and indirect spendExpedite orders and chase Sales Order AcknowledgementsManage the Kanban system and ensure smooth material replenishmentObtain quotations for goods and services; support vendor selection and capability assessmentProcess requirements from order action and exceptions reports, escalating risks such as obsolescence or supply issuesEnsure timely procurement of materials to meet production deadlines and proactively report risksDevelop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to meet business demandsMonitor and manage supplier performance, addressing failures and working on continuous improvementMaintain accurate and up-to-date Purchase Order data within the ERP systemCoordinate the return of non-conforming materials and ensure appropriate corrective actions are takenCollaborate closely with Engineering, QA, Production, and other departmentsResolve invoice queries in a timely manner, escalating issues where necessaryEnsure forecasted materials are received in the correct forecast period and exceptions are reportedProvide weekly procurement reports in agreed formatsObtain COSHH data for materials to ensure safe handling procedures on receiptSkills and Experience Required

Good general standard of education including GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and EnglishStrong time management and prioritization skillsPrevious procurement experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment is essentialUnderstanding of manufacturing planning and materials managementFamiliarity with RoHS and COSHH regulationsMinimum 3 years'' experience within a highly regulated industry such as defence or aerospaceWorking knowledge of HMRC legislation relating to procurement, imports, and exportsDesirable Qualifications

CIPS qualification or Business Studies diplomaMethodical, detail-oriented, and well-organised approach to workHigh attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data ..... full job details .....
