Description
- Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and commentary.
- Complete month-end processes, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate cost centre reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of board packs and internal dashboards.
- Provide timely financial insights and analysis to support business decision-making.
- Assist the Financial Controller in preparing board-level financial reports.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to coordinate annual budgeting and periodic re-forecasting cycles.
- Engage with department leads to gather inputs and ensure forecast accuracy.
- Track actuals versus budget and highlight key risks or opportunities.
- Prepare and manage project-specific budgets and financial reports.
- Monitor financial performance of key projects (e.g. capital, research, grant-funded, or operational).
- Ensure correct allocation of project costs and timely invoicing/milestone tracking.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate financial tracking.
- Oversee reconciliation of project-related accounts.
- Support post-project financial reviews with analysis and insights.
- Develop and track financial and operational KPIs aligned with business objectives.
- Assist departments in understanding and utilising KPIs to drive performance.
- Regularly review and refine metrics to ensure they remain relevant and actionable.
- Build strong working relationships with non-financial stakeholders, including project leads and budget holders.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
- Support the implementation of a new finance system (ERP or similar) within the accountancy department.
- Assist in defining system reporting requirements and improving finance processes.
- Participate in system testing, data migration, and end-user training.
