We are recruiting on behalf of a major UK airport for a Programme Engineering Director to lead the design and engineering delivery of a landmark -1bn transformation programme. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the infrastructure of one of the UK''s fastest-growing airports.

The Role:
The Programme Engineering Director will serve as the single point of accountability for all engineering and design matters across a multi-year capital programme. This includes terminal expansion, airfield development, baggage systems, IT, and commercial/retail fit-outs. You will lead technical governance, design assurance, standards compliance, and consultant performance management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end engineering delivery across all programme workstreams

• Manage design and engineering consultants, including technical advisor appointments

• Oversee technical standards, design compliance, and value engineering

• Support procurement strategy, partner selection, and contract management

• Define performance metrics and support programme governance and reporting

• Lead the engineering derogations process and statutory technical compliance

Candidate Profile:

• Chartered Engineer with a minimum of 15 years'' senior-level infrastructure delivery experience

• Extensive background in complex engineering projects (ideally in aviation, transport or regulated environments)

• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary design teams and consultants

• Strong knowledge of technical compliance, safety standards, and CDM regulations

• Excellent stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and communication skills
