Here at Wisbech, we have a team of 525 colleagues and manufacture premium chilled ready to cook meals for major retailers such as Sainsbury''s, Aldi and Co-op.
What you''ll be doing:
As a Production Supervisor, you will play a key role in leading and supporting our Production team to deliver the daily production plan safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
You will be responsible for coordinating colleagues across your area, ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and supporting the team to achieve production targets. You''ll work closely with other departments including Technical, Engineering, Hygiene and Planning to keep production running smoothly.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and motivating a team of Production colleagues throughout the shift.
- Organising colleagues and resources to ensure the daily production plan is achieved.
- Monitoring production performance and taking action when targets are not being met.
- Ensuring colleagues are working safely and following all Health & Safety, food safety and quality procedures.
- Completing shift briefings and making sure colleagues understand daily priorities and expectations.
- Monitoring quality, waste, efficiency and productivity within your area.
- Identifying production issues and working with the relevant teams to resolve them quickly.
- Working closely with Technical, Engineering, Hygiene and Planning to minimise disruption to production.
- Supporting and developing colleagues through coaching, training and regular feedback.
- Managing colleague performance and addressing any concerns appropriately.
- Ensuring new starters receive the correct support and training within the department.
- Maintaining high standards of GMP, housekeeping and food safety throughout the production area.
- Completing required production paperwork and ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
- Supporting investigations into production, quality or safety issues and helping put corrective actions in place.
- Communicating clearly with other Supervisors and managers during shift handovers.
- Supporting absence management and ensuring appropriate staffing levels across the shift.
- Encouraging a positive working environment and promoting good teamwork across the department.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and supporting changes that improve safety, quality, efficiency and performance.
To be successful in this role, we''re looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working within a production or manufacturing environment, ideally within food manufacturing.
- Has previous experience leading, supervising or supporting a team.
- Is confident managing people and providing clear direction throughout a busy shift.
- Has strong communication skills and can build positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
- Is comfortable making decisions and solving problems under pressure.
- Can organise and prioritise workloads to ensure production targets and deadlines are achieved.
- Has a good understanding of Health & Safety, food safety, quality and GMP standards.
- Can confidently challenge when standards are not being followed.
- Has a positive and proactive approach to leadership and is able to motivate and develop others.
- Is comfortable monitoring performance and taking action when improvements are required.
