Production Operator – Food Manufacturing (6 Month Contract)

Location: Southend on sea
Pay rate:  per hour
Contract: 6 months
Hours: (Apply online only), 1200pm to 1800, or full day 800 till 1800
Shifts: Weekly-changing rota. Typically, 3 shifts per week (Monday to Friday). We aim for Monday/Wednesday/Friday, but you’ll often be required on Thursdays.

We’re recruiting a reliable and physically capable Production Operator to join a busy food manufacturing site. This is a hands-on role in a production environment and does not require chef experience.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting daily food production activities
• Operating and monitoring production equipment (under supervision), including pasteurising and batch processing machinery
• Transferring product through pumps and pipework systems
• Loading ingredients and preparing mixes to specification
• Completing cleaning and sanitation tasks, including CIP (Clean-in-Place)
• Recording temperatures and completing basic production documentation
• Following food safety, hygiene, and site procedures at all times
• Assisting with basic equipment checks and reporting faults/issues promptly

Ideal candidate

• Experience in food manufacturing (dairy, beverage, bakery, or similar) is preferred but not essential
• Comfortable with physical work (lifting, moving materials, regular cleaning)
• Strong attention to detail and a “do it properly” approach to hygiene and procedure
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow structured processes
• Willing to learn and work as part of a team in a temperature-controlled setting
