About the Role
This full-time, temporary Production Operative role in Varteg involves preparing specialist components for the automotive sector. Working rotating shifts of 6am–2pm and 2pm–10pm, the successful candidate will sand down parts to the required finish and drill holes accurately to specification. Practical, hands-on ability and attention to detail are essential, along with the capacity to follow stage-by-stage processes within a busy preparation department. Pay ranges from £13.45 to £15.47 per hour, the higher rate including a 15% shift allowance, and breaks are paid. Pertemps are currently recruiting Preparation Operatives to join a well-established specialist manufacturing business based in Pontypool.
The company manufactures specialist components and products for the automotive sector, and we're looking for people who enjoy practical, hands-on work to join their busy preparation department.
What will you be doing?
As a Preparation Operative, you'll be responsible for preparing components through a stage-by-stage process before they move onto the next stage of production.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Sanding down components to the required finish
- Drilling holes accurately following specifications
- Preparing and finishing components ready for production
- Following a clear stage-by-stage preparation process
- Using basic hand and power tools
- Checking your work to ensure it meets quality standards
- Identifying any defects or issues with components
- Following work instructions and production specifications
- Keeping your work area clean, tidy and safe
- Working as part of the wider manufacturing team
This is a hands-on role, so you'll need to be comfortable carrying out practical tasks and working accurately to a set process.
Hours & Shift Pattern
You'll work alternating shifts each week:
- Week 1 – 6:00am to 2:00pm
- Week 2 – 2:00pm to 10:00pm
What are we looking for?
Previous experience within manufacturing, production, engineering, assembly or another hands-on environment would be an advantage.
