Production Manager- Nights
Production Manager - Nights
Staffordshire £50,000 to £60,000 basic + Night Shift Allowance Monday to Thursday, 6pm to 6am
As Production Manager, you''ll have skilled operators, experienced engineers and around 90 people working across the night shift.
What they need is someone who knows how to get the best out of them.
Someone who''s comfortable managing different personalities, recognises when performance is slipping and knows when a conversation needs to happen before a small issue becomes a bigger one.
You''ll be joining a manufacturing business that''s growing considerably, which is why they''re investing in additional Production Managers to support their expanding teams.
And there''s plenty happening.
Laser cutting, press machinery, robotic welding, fabrication and fitting, all under one roof.
As Production Manager, you''ll understand the machinery and processes, but it''s your ability to organise people, manage materials and keep production moving that will really make the difference.
You''ll know how to earn the respect of experienced operators, challenge poor or unsafe working practices and have those more difficult conversations around absence, performance and behaviour when needed.
You''ll be approachable, but your team will also know what''s expected of them.
And working Monday to Thursday, 6pm to 6am, you''ll have a three-day weekend every week.
As Production Manager, you''ll have your own area of responsibility within the wider night shift, working alongside people who know their machinery and take pride in what they do.
You''ll want to get to know them too.
Who''s your reliable pair of hands, who needs a little more encouragement and who might have a good idea that could make things work better?
Because as Production Manager, you''ll understand that getting the best out of people starts with knowing them.
You''ll have a dedicated planning department and an in-house production system that''s been developed around the needs of the business, so you''ll have the support and information you need to manage your area.
The business itself has changed considerably over recent years. Facilities and working conditions have improved, health and safety has become a real priority and there''s a much more open approach to management.
There''s still work to do, and they''re quite open about that.
Some people have been doing things the same way for years and getting different departments working together rather than pointing fingers is something they''re continuing to improve.
But there''s a good bunch of people here.
They''re sociable, they look out for one another and when somebody''s going through a difficult time, they''re often the first to offer support.
Your new boss the Operations Director started here as an apprentice and has worked his way through the business.
He understands what happens on the shop floor, knows the challenges and appreciates managers who can make decisions while remaining approachable.
As Production Manager, you''ll have his support, but you''ll also be trusted to manage your people and take responsibility for your area.
You might already be a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Night Shift Manager. Perhaps you''re a Shift Manager looking for more responsibility.
You don''t need to have worked in the same industry, but you''ll have a good understanding of manufacturing machinery and processes, alongside the people management experience to bring everything together.
Experience with lean manufacturing, Kaizen or continuous improvement would be welcome too, particularly as you settle in and start identifying where things could work better.
As Production Manager, you''ll receive:
- £50,000 to £60,000 basic salary depending on experience
- Additional night shift allowance, to be agreed
- Monday to Thursday, 6pm to 6am
- Three-day weekends
- 30 days'' holiday including bank holidays, increasing to 31 after five years and 32 after ten years
- Company pension
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Free parking
- Life insurance after two years'' service
If you''re a Production Manager who enjoys having responsibility, getting to know your team and being trusted to make decisions, I''d love to have a conversation.
