PRODUCTION MANAGER

Location: South Kirkby / Pontefract
Salary: -55,000
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are recruiting an experienced Production Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing business in South Kirkby.

This is a key operational leadership role responsible for ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will lead Shift Managers and production teams while working closely with Engineering, Technical and senior management.

The role requires a strong food manufacturing leader who can manage people, performance, labour, compliance and continuous improvement within a fast-paced factory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate production teams to achieve operational targets.
• Manage Shift Managers and ensure effective day-to-day production performance.
• Ensure products are manufactured safely, legally and to the required quality standards.
• Drive the site''s food safety culture across production.
• Manage labour deployment to ensure production areas are appropriately staffed.
• Monitor production KPIs and provide accurate performance reporting.
• Ensure raw material stocks are used effectively and losses are minimised.
• Work closely with Engineering to coordinate maintenance and planned preventive maintenance.
• Support site compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate audits, inspections and corrective actions.
• Identify training requirements and support employee development and succession planning.
• Drive continuous improvement across productivity, quality, cost and efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with Technical, Engineering, Commercial and senior management.
• Deputise for the Factory Manager when required.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Senior Shift Manager with a strong background in food production.

You should have:

• Previous management experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong food production experience.
• Proven people-management and leadership skills.
• HACCP Level 2 or above.
• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of production KPIs, labour and operational performance.
• A target-driven and continuous-improvement mindset.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Confidence working cross-functionally with Engineering and Technical teams.
