Production Manager - Electronics Manufacturing
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Manager to join a well-established and growing electronics manufacturing business.
This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong background in electronics manufacturing who is passionate about operational excellence, continuous improvement, and developing high-performing teams. You''ll play a pivotal role in ensuring production operations run safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while supporting business growth and customer satisfaction.
The Role
As Production Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy electronics manufacturing facility, leading a skilled production team and ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and delivery targets are consistently achieved.
Working closely with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Sales teams, you''ll drive operational performance, optimise manufacturing processes, and support a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily operation of the electronics manufacturing facility.
Lead, motivate and develop a production team of over 30 shop floor employees.
Plan production resources to meet customer demand and delivery schedules.
Coordinate SMT and through-hole assembly activities to maximise efficiency.
Monitor production performance, quality, and health & safety compliance.
Drive improvements across key performance indicators, including productivity, quality, efficiency and on-time delivery.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing performance.
Work collaboratively with Purchasing and Stores teams to ensure material availability.
Liaise with Sales and other internal departments to manage production priorities and customer requirements.
Ensure production processes comply with ISO 9001 quality management standards.
Support employee development through training, coaching and performance management.
Assist with inventory control, work-in-progress management and finished goods processes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience managing production within an electronics manufacturing environment.
Proven leadership experience within a low- or medium-volume manufacturing operation.
A strong understanding of electronic components, PCB assembly processes and manufacturing workflows.
Experience of SMT and/or through-hole assembly processes (desirable).
A track record of improving manufacturing performance through KPI management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
