Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 DOE + Full Benefit Package
Working hours: Mon – Thu (8am – 17:15pm), Fri (8am – 12pm)
Join an engineering business who design and builds control panels for some of the largest machinery manufacturers and OEM’S across a wide range of different sectors. We're looking for a Production Engineer to join a team and play a pivotal role in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), driving continuous improvement, and ensuring on-time, high-quality manufacturing output.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Production Engineer, you’ll be accountable for delivering electrical designs and production engineering support throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. You’ll provide timely, accurate technical data, support cross-functional teams, and mentor junior engineers and apprentices. This role is central to our operational success – ensuring that products are delivered Right First Time, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) through accurate electrical and production engineering data.
- Deliver key engineering documentation including BOMs, Item Cards, and capacity planning tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery, quality, cost, and safety targets are met.
- Participate in and lead Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, and root cause analysis.
- Mentor and coach apprentices and junior team members.
- Maintain compliance with industry standards (UL508a, LVD, EMC, EN60204).
- Contribute to SQCDP reviews and drive performance against internal/external quality, delivery, and productivity KPIs.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven background in electrical panel design / production engineering.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering principles.
- Experience working in a high-pressure, rapidly changing manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with design standards (UL508a, EN60204, LVD, EMC, etc.).
- Competent in using CAD tools and interpreting customer technical data.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and “can-do” attitude.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
