Job Title: Production Engineer
Location: North Shields
Salary: Circa £45,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
Working Hours: 37 hours per week

As a Production Engineer you will:
- Play a key role in optimising manufacturing processes, specifically within thermal metal spraying applications.
- You will use your engineering expertise to improve efficiency, precision, and quality, ensuring production targets are met and exceeded.
- This is a hands-on role where you will be involved in designing solutions, managing projects, and supporting both in-house and off-site activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing engineering support to maintain smooth production workflows.
- Producing and updating engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
- Sourcing parts, consumables, subcontractors, and new technologies.
- Inspecting components and subcontractor work for quality compliance.
- Designing, sourcing, and installing test equipment, as well as creating manuals and instructions.
- Commissioning and calibrating test equipment.
- Investigating faults, testing new products, and supporting special projects.
- Working closely with suppliers and customers, offering technical expertise and support.
- Supporting commercial activities, including part recognition and assisting with quotations.
- Ensuring adherence to quality systems and maintenance schedules.
- Participating in off-site projects both in the UK and internationally.
Skills & Experience:
- HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and Onshape
- Experience in fitting, assembly, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and fluid dynamics
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of robot programming.
- Excellent planning, organisation, and teamwork skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Desirable:
- Experience with 3D scanning and related software
- Knowledge of robot programming (RAPID, KAREL)
- Health & Safety qualifications (NEBOSH or equivalent)
