Role Overview

Our Client are seeking an experienced Production Controller withing Manufacturing Secotr to join our operations team based in Hemel Hempstead. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual with a strong manufacturing background to take ownership of production planning and scheduling in a dynamic environment.

Reporting To

Production Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and schedule production orders based on customer demand, stock levels, and available capacity
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules proactively to address delays or material shortages
  • Coordinate with the purchasing team to ensure raw materials and components are available when required
  • Track production output, efficiency, and lead times, reporting variances to management
  • Ensure production meets quality standards and customer specifications at all times
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve workflow efficiency
  • Communicate daily priorities clearly to supervisors and production teams

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery performance - minimum 95%
  • Production schedule adherence
  • Material availability and stock accuracy
  • Manufacturing efficiency and throughput - factory efficiency minimum 85%

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong production planning and scheduling skills
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes including metal and joinery fabrication, painting and assembly
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Confident communicator, able to collaborate effectively across departments
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure
  • Comfortable using ERP systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level) and good general IT skills

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years'' experience in a production environment - shelving, shopfitting, or retail equipment preferred
  • Previous experience in a production control, planning, or manufacturing coordination role
  • Knowledge or qualification in lean methodologies (Lean / Six Sigma) desirable
  • Fluent English - written and spoken
