About the Role
We are recruiting for a Production Build Technicians to join a leading automotive manufacturer working on innovative vehicle programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a highly skilled engineering team responsible for the assembly, testing and development of complex mechanical and electrical systems.
The successful candidate will have a hands-on engineering background and will be confident working from engineering drawings to build and test high-quality assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical and electrical components to engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Carry out the fabrication and fitting of components and sub-assemblies.
- Perform functional testing, fault finding and debugging of assemblies to ensure they meet specification.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation and assembly procedures.
- Support prototype builds and new product development activities where required.
- Carry out basic machining, fabrication or welding activities as part of the build process.
- Identify build issues and work with engineering teams to implement improvements.
- Ensure all work is completed to the required quality, safety and manufacturing standards.
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment in line with company procedures.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Mechanical and electrical assembly experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- Experience of assembly, fabrication and fitting.
- Experience carrying out testing and debugging activities.
- Basic machining, fabrication or welding experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good IT skills and confidence using engineering software and documentation.
- Previous experience within the automotive industry.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Full eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Experience within electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing.
- Experience in motorsport engineering.
- Prototype or low-volume vehicle build experience.
- Knowledge of automotive quality standards and lean manufacturing principles.
