We are working with our client who is an established international manufacturer seeking a skilled individual to join to join their team on a permanent basis in the role of Product Support Engineer. This role is ideal for someone passionate about delivering exceptional technical support and building strong customer relationships across global markets. The is North East based, European travel is involved.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality post-delivery technical and customer support for machinery and equipment.
- Ensure timely and effective resolution of customer-reported issues, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Serve as a direct point of contact for customers, representing the business with integrity and technical expertise.
- Provide on-site support to diagnose and resolve equipment issues, including short-notice international travel when required.
- Conduct technical training sessions for distributors and large fleet clients.
- Participate in proactive customer visits, often alongside sales teams, to strengthen long-term relationships.
- Report reliability and service concerns to internal quality and operations teams.
- Perform audits on warranty claims and parts at customer sites when necessary.
- Collaborate on spare parts discussions to identify opportunities for increased revenue.
- Maintain detailed records of support activities and field service reports.
- Draft and distribute service bulletins to relevant stakeholders.
- Supply technical documentation and drawings to assist with troubleshooting and training.
- Uphold health and safety standards across all activities.
- Support exhibitions, customer events, and other promotional activities as needed.
- Explore opportunities for chargeable service work on both in-house and third-party equipment.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Engineering qualification equivalent to a UK BTEC ONC / HNC or similar.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a confident and professional approach to customer interactions.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Europe to meet customer needs.
- Foreign language proficiency (especially Dutch, French, or Spanish) is a plus.
