Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the technical strategy, architecture, and delivery of a global portfolio of AI-enabled and localisation-focused digital products. This is a high-impact leadership role combining strategic technology vision with hands-on guidance, and requiring deep expertise in AI technologies-particularly Google Vertex AI-along with the ability to inspire and direct a large, distributed team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a global engineering team of 41 via 3 direct reports, fostering a high-performance culture.
Own the technical architecture and make strategic build vs. buy decisions.
Drive the adoption of AI technologies (GCP/Vertex AI) to enhance automation, quality, and speed.
Champion modern engineering practices (Security, Agile, SDLC) across a multi-technology landscape.
Oversee budgets using FinOps principles to ensure efficient cloud spending.
Translate technical roadmaps into clear, compelling messages for business stakeholders.
Requirements
Proven experience in senior engineering or technology leadership roles.
Strong hands-on technical background with a track record in AI-driven solutions, particularly GCP/Vertex AI.
Experience managing diverse technology stacks (e.g., MLL, React, PHP, Perl; on-prem & cloud).
Skilled in leading change within complex, global organisations.
Excellent communication skills with high emotional intelligence.
