Product Development Manager

Own Label Product Development Manager

and lead the creation and delivery of our own label range from concept to launch.

Responsibilities

Define and implement propositions for each own label brand to drive year-on-year growth.

Manage the full product development lifecycle—from idea generation to launch.

Collaborate with marketing to shape brand identity.

Analyse market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities.

Develop and execute a strategic Own Label Development Plan.

Negotiate with suppliers on cost, timelines, and quality.

Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and brand standards.

Approve samples, packaging, and production sign-offs.

Work cross-functionally with Product Management, Procurement, Purchasing, and Marketing teams.

Qualifications

Proven experience in product development or buying, ideally in own/private label.

Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.

Knowledge of manufacturing, sourcing, and compliance standards.

Commercially astute with a creative eye for product innovation.

Excellent organisational and project management skills.

Ability to travel nationally and internationally (approx. 5% of time).

Bonus Skills and Experience

Leadership experience in buying or product management.

Expertise in category and product range development.

Experience negotiating with OEMs and factories.

Strong presentation and stakeholder influencing skills.

Understanding of end-to-end sales processes and supply chain dynamics.

Experience in business supplies and services.
