PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & ATELIER ASSISTANT

PURPOSE OF ROLE16Arlington is seeking a Product Development and Atelier Assistant to join our fast paced Collections Team. Supported by the Head of Product, the role is pivotal in contributing to the development of collections and special projects, from raw material development through to coordinating the atelier schedule of final garments, and finally production handover, all whilst maintaining the brand’s high-quality standard of product.
Working closely with the creative team, the chosen candidate will need to have strong technical knowledge of garment finishings and be able to assist in the day to day administration of running an in-house atelier.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with Head of Product and Senior Designer to translate seasonal concepts into raw material research, in line with the critical path
Launch lab dips and knit downs in line with seasonal colour palette and design direction
Launch embroidery trials and final designs in line with critical path
Attend local and international fabric fairs
Problem solve raw materials – must be hands on with a can-do attitude
Take part in sketch handovers between Design, PD and Pattern Cutter to ensure all details are clear
Organise, file and archive all seasonal raw materials and lab dips
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and factories
Book fit models and freelance atelier staff in line with workflow
Together with Head of Product, assist with workflow of atelier, planning in all toiles and samples accordingly to corresponding deadlines
Together with the atelier team, ensure all tools and materials are well stocked and reordered when needed
Record all fit notes across development and production handover meetings, distributing to wider team
Create and maintain technical sheets for production handover
Input all raw material data into Zedonk to generate BOMs and initial costing of collection, ensuring details are accurate for bulk production
Launch wearer trials and washcare tests for all material combinations per season
Ensure stitch and fuse trials are launched and confirmed each season
Maintain open communication between seamstresses, design and production teams, noting any issues which need problem solving ahead of production
Main point of contact for seamstresses to check construction and finishing details
Main point of contact for development and atelier interns, setting and overseeing tasks
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
2-3 years of experience as a Product Developer/Raw Material Developer within luxury brands
Strong understanding of garment construction and fit, raw materials, and components
Experienced working with manufacturers across both Europe and Asia
Must be willing to travel as needed
Ability to work to tight deadlines and adhere to critical path
Experience in fabric and trim sourcing with a sustainability focus
Experience with large volumes of data entry, ensuring complete detail and accuracy at all time
Strong time management and organizational skills
Strong communication skills
Must be self-motivated
Strong eye for detail and accuracy
Photoshop and Illustrator knowledge beneficial
Proficient use of Microsoft Excel
Proficient use of Zedonk or similar platforms
