Product Design Engineer – Outdoor Leisure Products
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
Salary: Up to £35,000 per year
Working Hours: 35 hours per week (Mon-Fri)
Are you a talented Product Design Engineer looking to bring your CAD skills to a growing outdoor products brand? This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative, forward-thinking team, taking concepts from initial idea through to finished product. You'll work alongside designers, production teams, suppliers, and manufacturers, playing a key role in shaping products that are practical, well-engineered, and genuinely enjoyed by end users. This role would suit someone with a sharp eye for detail, solid design engineering fundamentals, and a genuine enthusiasm for product development.

Key Responsibilities:
· Support the design and development of the company's outdoor leisure product range, from concept through to production.
· Create clear, detailed drawings, diagrams, and supporting documentation using CAD software (Solidworks and Illustrator).
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine designs for manufacturability, assembly, usability, durability, and cost.
· Work directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners to review samples, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure the finished product matches the design intent.
· Keep organised records of design iterations, sample feedback, and testing outcomes.
· Write up engineering change reports to help drive product improvements and support production updates.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree, HND, or equivalent experience in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Design, or a related engineering/design discipline.
· Confident using CAD software to develop and communicate designs (Solidworks and Illustrator ideal but not essential).
· Solid grounding in product development and design for manufacture, with an interest in creating well-engineered, real-world products.
· Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance creativity, functionality, durability, and manufacturability.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
