Lead category sourcing and supplier performance at a major manufacturing site
Tioxide is recruiting for a Procurement Specialist to join the Finance organisation at Greatham.
This is a key commercial procurement role where you will lead sourcing activity across one of two important category areas: Energy, emissions, renewable opportunities and supply chain services, or Indirects, including site operations and office management spend.
You will use category knowledge, market insight and negotiation skills to help secure supply, deliver cost reduction and avoidance, improve value for money and support cash flow. You will also play an important role in supplier performance, contract management, sustainable procurement and compliance.
What you’ll be doing
You will:
- Develop purchasing strategies for allocated categories using market knowledge, supplier insight, benchmarks and total cost of ownership.
- Source new suppliers and materials, identify suitable partners and support implementation with site teams.
- Lead tenders, negotiations, price agreements and contract implementation.
- Work with legal colleagues on contract reviews, approvals and contract processing when required.
- Manage supplier relationships and report supplier performance against agreed service levels, including safety, quality, cost and service.
- Ensure suppliers have improvement plans for below-target performance and contribute to strategic improvements.
- Provide Operational Purchasing with the information needed to raise orders and outline agreements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and master data in the system.
- Support compliance with company policies, procedures, EHS standards, relevant regulations and law.
- Ensure non-conformances are reported, investigated and addressed, including risk assessments and emergency response testing where required.
- Incorporate sustainable procurement principles into supplier management and vendor performance.
- Support carbon reduction initiatives, such as green certified power, biomethane, electrode boilers or solar/private wire solutions.
- Manage compliance reporting for relevant supplies, including recycling or legislative requirements where applicable.
- Lead or support transport-specific tendering to review routes, vendor effectiveness and cost.
Candidate requirements
We welcome applications from people who have:
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, commercial, supply chain or a related function.
- Experience leading negotiations, sourcing activity or supplier relationship management.
- The ability to understand market dynamics, supplier power, risk and total cost of ownership.
- Experience supporting tenders, contracts, supplier agreements or category strategies.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work across site teams, suppliers and stakeholders.
- A results-driven approach, with the ability to deliver value, cost reduction, cost avoidance and service improvement.
- Good analytical skills and confidence working with procurement data, supplier performance and commercial information.
- Category knowledge in energy, supply chain services, indirects or raw material-related procurement would be welcomed.
- Experience working in an international or complex organisational environment would be beneficial.
- A commitment to safe working, inclusion, compliance, sustainability and values-led behaviours.
We know people gain skills in different ways. You do not need to meet every point above to apply. If this role interests you and you believe you could make a positive contribution, we would welcome your application.
