Role : Category Procurement Manager
OverviewSupplier Relationship Management: Build strategies within the category to obtain high quality, low cost ingredients and packaging materials which support the Hershey brands. Negotiate supply agreements and contracts with suppliers. Create and maintain documentation (including continuity plans, supplier segmentation, supplier scorecards). Maintain and monitor financial viability for suppliers of assigned categories to reduce risk to THC.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement supplier relationship strategies to secure quality, cost-effective ingredients and packaging materials.
Negotiate supply agreements and contracts with suppliers.
Create and maintain documentation (continuity plans, supplier segmentation, supplier scorecards).
Monitor supplier financial viability to reduce risk to The Hershey Company (THC).
Market Leadership: Develop risk management strategies through strategic category management aligned to business plans. Understand supply/demand, cost drivers, supplier options, regulatory environment, and ensure sourcing supports current and future needs. Report market status to leadership and share pertinent market information with QRC, RandD, Plant Ops, and Manufacturing Alliances.
Category Management Development: Collaborate with Supply Chain, RandD, and other departments to lead innovation sourcing and continuous improvement (cost savings, quality improvements, alternate supplier qualifications, supplier diversity, working capital improvement) within commodity strategies. Minimize supplier proliferation.
Regulatory/ESG: Partner with internal stakeholders and suppliers on market regulations that may impact the EU business. Align stakeholders on key risks and policies.
QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience
Education: Masters Degree or 3–7 years Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics or related field, or equivalent, required.
Experience: Solid personal presence with the ability to interact confidently at all levels of the organization; ability to review, comprehend, and negotiate complex purchase agreements/contracts; knowledge of varied and complex supply markets and economics; ability to analyze and screen suppliers for financial, supply, and service capabilities; knowledge of purchasing principles and inventory analysis; strong communication and collaboration skills; SAP knowledge; proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); strong leadership and ability to lead cross-functional teams; capable of working under pressure.
