An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially focused Procurement Category Manager, Senior Buyer, or ambitious procurement professional looking to take the next step in their career.

This role offers the chance to join a fantastic procurement function responsible for managing significant indirect spend portfolios across a complex and fast-paced business. Whether you already have generalist category management experience or are looking to broaden your expertise into areas such as Technology, this position provides excellent exposure, development opportunities, and clear career progression. You will lead mainly of the tech category, but you will be supported in this area.

You will partner with stakeholders across the business to develop sourcing strategies, deliver tenders, manage supplier relationships, and drive commercial value.

You''ll play a key role in shaping procurement strategy while supporting a broad range of indirect spend categories, with particular interest in candidates who have experience within, or are keen to develop into, Technology and IT procurement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies aligned to business objectives.
• Lead end-to-end procurement projects, including RFQs, RFPs, tenders and supplier negotiations.
• Build strong business partnerships with stakeholders across multiple functions.
• Manage supplier performance, contracts, risk and commercial relationships.
• Deliver cost savings, value creation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, service levels and operational efficiency.
• Support procurement transformation and change projects.
• Utilise market intelligence and spend analysis to inform strategic decisions.
• Negotiate commercial agreements and contract renewals.
• Ensure robust contract management and supplier governance processes are in place.

Profile

A successful Procurement Manager / Category Manager / Senior Indirect Buyer should have:

• Proven experience in procurement, ideally within the industrial or manufacturing sector.
• You must have experience in indirect procurement ( generalist category management) and ideally you would have an understanding of IT
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Knowledge of procurement processes and best practices.
• Ability to analyse data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Job Offer

• Salary of -55,000 to -60,000 + Bonus
• Permanent position based in Bolton ( Hybrid working)
