Private Sector Housing Officer (Enforcement) - Sussex Local Authority 45 per hour 3-Month Initial Contract Hybrid WorkingWe are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority in Sussex to appoint an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer on an initial 3-month contract. This is a key role within a busy team, focused on driving up standards across the Private Rented Sector, with a strong emphasis on enforcement activity and the implementation of the Renters Rights Act.The RoleYou will take ownership of a varied and complex caseload, focusing on proactive enforcement and ensuring compliance with current and emerging legislation. Key responsibilities include:Carrying out HHSRS inspections and property assessmentsInvestigating housing complaints, hazards, and disrepair casesLeading on enforcement action, including improvement notices and prohibition ordersSupporting the implementation of the Renters Rights Act, ensuring policies and procedures are effectively appliedProcessing and enforcing HMO licensing applicationsIssuing Civil Penalties and preparing cases for prosecution where requiredLiaising with landlords, tenants, and internal departmentsPreparing detailed case files for tribunal or court proceedingsAbout you:To be successful in this role, you will have:Proven experience within Private Sector Housing in a Local Authority settingStrong working knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and HHSRSDemonstrable experience in enforcement and legal processesFamiliarity with ..... full job details .....
