Are you looking for a fast-paced role within Private Sector Housing?

We are working wiht a Local Authority in Essex who are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Enforcement Officer to join their team. You will play a key role in tackling poor housing conditions, licensing breaches, and landlord non-compliance.

You''ll manage a varied caseload, progressing investigations from inspection findings through to formal action where required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate breaches of housing legislaation and licence conditions.
• Conduct compliance visits and follow-up inspections.
• Gather evidence, prepare case files and maintain accurate records.
• Draft and serve statutory notices.
• Monitor compliance and take appropriate action where breaches persist.
• Prepare Civil Financial Penalty and prosecution cases.
• Investigate offences relating to HMOs, Selective Licensing and property management regulations.
• Work closely with Legal Services and attend court or tribunal proceedings where required.
• Liaise with landlords, tenants and partner agencies to secure positive outcomes.

About you:

• Experience within a Local Authority, working in Private Sector Housing/Environmental Health.
• Strong knowlegdge of the Housing Act 2004 and associated legislation.
• Experience preparing and serving CPNs, legal documents and case files.
• Excellent written, organisational and communication skills.
• HHSRS Qualification.
• Preferably a degree in Environmental Health.
