Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Private Client Lawyer to provide comprehensive legal services to our diverse clientele. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in private client work, including drafting wills, creating Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), and managing estate planning and administration. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and guidance to clients on a wide range of private client matters, including wills, trusts, estate planning, and probate
- Draft, review, and update wills, ensuring they accurately reflect clients'' wishes and comply with current legislation
- Prepare and register Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) for both property and financial affairs and health and welfare
- Manage the administration of estates, including obtaining grants of probate, dealing with inheritance tax issues, and distributing assets to beneficiaries
- Advise on and implement tax-efficient estate planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals and families
- Handle trust creation, administration, and termination, including drafting trust deeds and advising trustees on their duties and responsibilities
- Provide counsel on issues related to mental capacity and Court of Protection matters
- Assist with the preparation of Deputyship applications and ongoing management of deputyships
- Collaborate with other departments and external professionals (e.g., accountants, financial advisors) to provide comprehensive solutions for clients
- Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant legislation and case law, ensuring compliance and best practices in all areas of private client work
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing a high level of customer service and support
- Contribute to the firm''s business development efforts by participating in networking events, seminars, and other marketing initiatives
- Mentor and support junior members of the team, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment
- Manage your own caseload efficiently, meeting deadlines and maintaining accurate records
- Prepare clear and concise legal documents, correspondence, and reports for clients and internal use
Qualifications and Requirements
- Qualified solicitor with a valid practicing certificate in England and Wales
- 1-10 years of post-qualification experience in private client work
- Extensive knowledge and experience in drafting wills, LPAs, and other private client documents
- Strong understanding of estate planning, probate, and trust law
- Excellent drafting skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in relevant legal software and case management systems
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients in a clear and accessible manner
- Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
