An excellent opportunity for an experienced Structures Engineer to join a Highways Client and play a key role in managing and improving critical bridge and structural assets. This position offers the chance to work on high-profile projects while helping shape long-term asset strategies across a large and complex network.
The Role:
- Lead the management and development of bridge and structural asset programmes across a diverse regional network.
- Develop and implement asset management plans that deliver value for money and support long-term infrastructure performance.
- Commission and oversee structural surveys, inspections, and technical assessments.
- Review and approve technical reports, drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
- Provide expert engineering advice to support renewal, maintenance, and improvement schemes.
- Monitor asset condition data and utilise evidence-based approaches to inform investment decisions.
- Support the prioritisation of structural defects and recommend effective maintenance strategies.
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Contribute to the development of best practice standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional accreditation.
- Strong experience within highways structures, bridges, or related infrastructure assets.
- Knowledge of structural inspections, assessments, asset management, and maintenance planning.
- Experience working with contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Understanding of relevant industry standards, asset management principles, and engineering best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed technical decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
