Principal Transport Planner
We are looking for an experienced Principal Transport Planner to join a growing transport planning team in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced who wants to take a key role in delivering high-quality projects, managing client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the team.
The business takes a collaborative approach, encouraging colleagues at all levels to share ideas, knowledge and expertise to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients. You will work across a varied portfolio of projects, primarily within the private sector, supporting a diverse client base including high-profile developers, landowners, housebuilders, retailers, universities, NHS healthcare providers and contractors.
The role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects and wants to see the tangible results of their work.
The Role
Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:
·Preparing Transport Notes, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments and Travel Plans;
·Undertaking site access and development appraisals;
·Acting as a Travel Plan Coordinator where required;
·Applying relevant local and national transport planning policy and guidance;
·Undertaking junction capacity modelling using Junctions software, including ARCADY and PICADY;
·Traffic signal modelling and design using LinSig;
·Preparing preliminary designs for site accesses, junction improvements and highway schemes using AutoCAD;
·Undertaking swept path analysis using AutoTrack;
·Producing high-quality plans and graphics using GIS packages and/or CorelDRAW;
·Managing projects and maintaining effective communication with clients and project teams;
·Preparing client briefs, scopes of work and fee proposals;
·Contributing to wider company bids, tenders and framework submissions; and
·Supporting the team in achieving wider business and commercial targets.
The Candidate
The successful candidate is likely to have:
·Around 6-9 years'' experience within transport planning, ideally with a strong development planning focus;
·A relevant degree or formal education in Civil Engineering, Geography, Transport Planning or a related discipline;
·Experience working on development-led transport planning projects;
·Membership of, or a desire to work towards membership of, a relevant professional body such as CIHT or ICE;
·Strong written and verbal communication skills;
·Experience communicating directly with clients and other project stakeholders;
·Excellent attention to detail and a consistently high standard of work;
·The ability to manage priorities, work proactively and use initiative; and
·A collaborative approach with an interest in contributing to the development of a growing team.
