Carrington West are pleased to be working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy to recruit a Principal Town Planner to join their Cardiff-based team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced private-sector planner to take on a senior role within a growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across the Welsh planning system, while providing mentorship and support to more junior members of the team.
The Role
·Lead and manage a variety of planning projects across Wales.
·Provide expert advice within the Welsh planning system.
·Take responsibility for the delivery of complex planning projects and provide senior-level input and guidance.
·Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including planners, architects, landscape architects, and urban designers.
·Mentor and develop junior members of the planning team, helping to build their skills and experience.
·Support the Directors by taking ownership of project delivery and managing the day-to-day planning workload.
·Build and maintain strong client relationships.
·Contribute to business development, including identifying opportunities and helping to win new work.
·Represent the consultancy at client meetings and act as a confident, knowledgeable point of contact.

About You
·MRTPI qualified.
·Ideally 8-10 years'' professional planning experience.
·Strong experience within the private sector.
·Good knowledge and experience of the Welsh planning system.
·Proven experience managing planning projects from inception through to delivery.
·Confident in managing client relationships and acting as a client-facing representative.
·Strong business development skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and contribute to winning new work.
·A natural mentor who enjoys supporting and developing more junior members of a team.
·Able to operate confidently at Principal level and take on responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of projects, helping to alleviate the workload of senior Directors.
·Excellent communication, organisational and commercial skills.
