SLR Consulting .The joining of Wardell Armstrong and SLR has created a team of qualified and experienced Soil Scientists with expertise in soil, peat, environmental science, hydrology, ecology, and agriculture. Our team combines practical industry experience with environmental impact assessment capabilities, project management skills, and regulatory knowledge, providing valuable baseline information for site management decisions. We focus on waste soil assessment and characterization and geochemistry integration into rehabilitation plans, offering a holistic approach to land and soil management for our clients.Team OverviewThe small soils team, based in Cardiff, Sheffield, and Glasgow, works on diverse projects across sectors such as energy infrastructure, quarrying, forestry, residential, commercial developments, and sports. Projects are located throughout the UK and occasionally internationally in remote and challenging locations.The RoleWe seek an experienced Soil Scientist to lead our established and expanding Agriculture, Soils, and Peat team, developing soils, peat, and agricultural work/client base firmwide. The position can be based in any UK office, preferably Glasgow, Sheffield, Leeds, Cardiff, or Nottingham, or remotely with UK travel.ResponsibilitiesConduct soil and peat surveys, including ALC/LCCA and related fieldwork.Produce written reports for clients.Manage data supporting technical reporting, planning applications, and EIA.Liaise with clients, landowners, contractors, authorities, and third parties.Mentor and develop team members.Maintain and grow the business.Candidate ProfilePostgraduate qualification in Soil Science or a related degree with relevant practical experience.Experience in soil and peat surveys.Excellent report writing skills.Knowledge of Agricultural Land Classification (ALC or LCCA).Chartered status is preferred.Experience in team management and business development.About UsSLR is a global leader in Sustainability Solutions, with over 4,000 employees across six regions and more than 125 countries.
