The successful candidate will go through an integration period to familiarise with team members in the UK, Ireland and further afield, while the team learns more about them. The roles of people within the team vary as individuals shape their career around their strengths and interests. The duties are not prescriptive or exhaustive, but, over time, are likely to involve the following:Responsibilities

Work as part of a diverse team of engineers, scientists and modellers from conceptual design through to detail design and engineeringEnsure consideration of appropriate design standards and guidance including GISTM (Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management), CDA, ICOLD or applicable local standardsLead and contribute to the design and assessment of mine waste facilities including tailings facilities, water storage facilities, waste rock dumps and integrated waste facilities, from concept design through detailed design and into operational and closure phasesCollaborate with junior team members; provide stability assessments, deposition modelling, filter compatibility assessments, technical specifications, designer risk assessments, operations manuals and reportingTravel to site or other project offices to carry out site inspections, dam stability reviews, oversee CQA or attend meetings and workshopsProject management including drafting proposals and cost estimates, client liaison, reporting and invoices, project closure and client feedback with support from the project management team within the mining groupManage technical delivery of projects including management and direction of multi-disciplinary design teamsMentor junior staff in professional development and execution of dutiesProvide input to internal training modules, including developing materials and presenting them in training sessionsParticipation in practice area networks for international collaboration and networkingParticipation in conferences with papers, presentations and poster competitionsAssist with marketing campaigns where requiredDevelop a client base and actively seek out and win new workProvide input to team strategy developmentProvide specialised technical input focused on tailings management facilities, heap leach facilities, water impoundments and waste rock dump design, soil mechanics, soil improvement methods, geosynthetic materials engineeringLiaise with the Mining Team networks, including Europe’s Mining Team meetings and calls as requiredAssist others in carrying out business development activities including preparation of technical proposalsAct in the spirit of WSP''s values and adhere to the Code of Conduct; raise concerns as appropriatePromote a safety-first attitude and adhere to health and safety policies and proceduresEnsure actions and behaviours align with WSP''s Equality PolicyWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrate

Degree qualified within civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology, with a strong emphasis on soil mechanicsKnowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulationsMining and geotechnical experience relating to mine waste disposal/facilitiesAbility to interpret and monitor results and use tools to monitor and design geotechnical structures and assist clients with operational requirementsTheoretical and practical experience of project management and consultancy, including client relationships, projects and teamsAbility to manage and work effectively within a team environmentWillingness to travel in the UK and internationally, and to remote environmentsDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
