Role Overview

If you are an experienced primary design engineer working on HV or EHV substations, this is an opportunity to step into a principal-level role with real technical ownership. You will join an engineering team delivering across transmission and distribution projects, leading substation design and supporting ongoing growth in the power sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed primary design for HV/EHV substations
• Develop layout drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
• Design electrical plant including switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment
• Ensure designs meet safety, quality, and industry standards
• Support design reviews and technical approvals
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across projects
• Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering best practice

Requirements

• Experience in primary design for HV/EHV substations
• Strong understanding of substation layouts and electrical plant
• HNC, HND, or Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience working on transmission or distribution projects
• Knowledge of UK standards and design practices
• Strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills
