Job Title:

Principal Power Systems Electrical Engineer

Location:

Barrow-In-Furness and Filton / Hybrid (2 days a fortnight onsite at Barrow; 1 day a week onsite at Filton) depending on business needs

Salary:

Up to £55,000 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What You’ll Be Doing

Conducting load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis of an electrical power systemManagement and analysis of the electrical load budgetDeveloping and validating electrical modelsCollaborating with multi-discipline teams, suppliers and stakeholders on matters related to the power systemPreparing technical reports, calculations, and presentations communicating results and advising recommendationsDeveloping and mentoring other team members

Essential

Your skills and experiences:

Degree qualified or equivalent experience in electrical engineeringChartered Engineer or working towards chartershipKnowledge of high power and medium voltage power systems and distributionsExtensive experience in Power Systems ModellingExperience conducting electrical load budget and load flow analysisAn understanding in power system analysis software tools (e.g., ETAP, Simulink/Simscape, MATLAB)Stakeholder management experience

The Electrical Verification Team

As part of the Electrical Verification Team, you will be involved in the verification and validation of the power system, conducting analysis, and performing calculations to support the maturity and design of the electrical platform. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
