Principal or Associate Civil Engineer
My client is looking for an experienced Principal or Associate Civil Engineer to join their growing Civil Engineering team. They work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK, including major regeneration schemes, DfE schools, commercial developments, sports facilities, residential developments, highways and earthworks projects.
This is an opportunity for an experienced civil engineer to take a senior role within the team, with responsibility for technical delivery, project management and the development of engineers and technicians. You will take ownership of projects from initial concept design through planning, detailed design, and construction.
The Role
You will:
- l feasibility and Lead the technical delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
- Manage, mentor and develop engineers and technicians within the team.
- Lead highways, external works, levels, earthworks and wider site infrastructure design.
- Lead the preparation of drainage strategies and the design of SuDS, foul drainage and surface water drainage systems.
- Manage projects from feasibility and planning through detailed design and construction.
- Review and approve calculations, drawings, models, specifications and technical reports.
- Coordinate with clients, architects and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver coordinated and practical engineering solutions.
- Liaise with LLFAs, water companies, highway authorities and other statutory and regulatory bodies.
- Manage project programmes, resources, fees and deliverables.
- Support fee proposals, project planning and the commercial management of projects.
- Contribute to the continued development and growth of the Civil Engineering team.
About You
You will be an experienced civil engineer with a strong consultancy background and the technical knowledge, communication skills and commercial awareness required to lead both projects and people.
They are looking for someone with:
- Chartered status, or significant progress towards Chartership.
- Strong experience in civil engineering, drainage and infrastructure design within a UK consultancy environment.Experience leading engineers and technicians and managing the technical delivery of projects.
- Strong knowledge of SuDS, flood risk, drainage design and relevant UK standards and guidance.
- Experienced in highways, external works, levels, earthworks and site infrastructure design.
- Experienced using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow or similar industry software.
- The ability to review technical work and provide clear direction and guidance to project teams. Civil Engineer Job Specification
- Strong communication, coordination and client facing skills.
- Good commercial awareness, including experience managing project programmes, resources and fees.
