Wood is recruiting for Principal Mechanical Engineer - Static to support across various high-profile projects in the UK. The Principal Engineer will join our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business. There is a requirement for hybrid working with Tuesday and Wednesday based out of Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines. Occasional travel to the client site is expected. This position is for a minimum 6 months duration. Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.Responsibilities

Definition and approval of technical scopesAssess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering designs, products, and equipmentPerform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including solving complex problems and completing project-specific tasksProvide technical reviewsMake recommendations on project organisation requirements, work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutionsFormulate and direct investigations or prototype, model and system studies, evaluating data and recommending practical application of resultsParticipate in resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and complex coordination requirementsSolve problems requiring application of research dataSupport the Mechanical Engineering Team in deliverablesInterface with project construction, commissioning, operations, contractor, and vendor personnelReview of Method Statements and Risk Assessments related to Mechanical EngineeringParticipation in coordination meetings, weekly progress and other ad-hoc meetingsFamiliarity with procurement processes – Enquiries, TBE’s and purchase requisitionsQualifications

Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experienceChartership, PE Status or relevant professional license/registration preferredMust be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checkDetailed knowledge of static equipment prerequisites: anti-surge valves, instrumentation taps, skids, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, gas scrubbers, valvesWhat we offer
