Principal Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a leading entity in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer on a contract basis to join their esteemed team. This role is pivotal to their operations across multiple locations, including Cowes, Great Baddow, and Broad Oak.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical engineering projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery of solutions.
• Develop and review detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems within defence and security projects.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including BPSS and ITAR.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with clients to understand project requirements and deliver accordingly.

Job Requirements:

• Experience as a mechanical engineer within the defence sector.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
• Proficiency in mechanical design tools and software.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work on-site for four days a week at specified locations.
• Understanding of BPSS and SC in-flight processes.
• Compliance with ITAR and IR35 regulations.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
