Principal Landscape Architect/Planner - Birmingham

Role – Principal Landscape ArchitectLocation – BirminghamSalary – £DOEOur client, a multidisciplinary consultancy with 14 offices across the UK is currently looking for an experienced Principal Landscape Architect with a strong and demonstrable focus on Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA). This role will be based from their central Birmingham studio and will involve leading LVIA strategy and delivery across a diverse range of projects, including residential, commercial, and major infrastructure developments. You’ll be a key figure in shaping the landscape planning offer, providing technical leadership and quality assurance throughout the lifecycle of each project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Take ownership of the LVIA offering across the business, overseeing the delivery of high-quality assessmentsLead the production and review of LVIA reports and associated visualisationsProvide senior-level input and advice to clients, planners, and design teams throughout the project lifecycleUndertake site visits and fieldwork to assess landscape and visual characteristics and inform strategic project directionOversee the preparation of 3D models, photomontages, and other visual outputs to support assessmentsSupport fee proposals, resourcing, and project management responsibilities on LVIA commissionsMentor and develop junior and mid-level staff, promoting best practice in LVIA methodologiesKEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Landscape ArchitectureChartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI)Extensive experience in leading and delivering LVIA work, ideally in a consultancy settingProficiency in relevant software including AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and GIS platformsStrong understanding of landscape planning policy, environmental legislation, and national infrastructure processesProven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects from early stages to deliveryConfident communicator, capable of representing the practice at client meetings, hearings, and public consultationsWHAT''S ON OFFER
