Permanent, Full Time, 37-hour weekPurpose of PositionThe role of a Principal Engineering Manager is to support the dismantling engineering team. The role will include managing activities and actions to be carried out in order to reach technically viable and low-cost solutions to address the issues raised by projects.Role and ResponsibilitiesCo-ordination of the engineering team and definition of priorities in relation to the project objectivesTo ensure that all interfaces data is correctly defined and justified. This will include working with radiological data, inventories and other data sourcesEnsure that documentation is available and accessible in a central repository, including existing documents, photos, and background informationInterface management and document co-ordinationFollow-up of the major technical issues within the project, particularly those which cross functions and disciplines. This will include management of all relevant interfacesCo-ordination of engineering teams to meet the requirements of the project and customerManagement and arbitration of changes to the configuration of the engineering filesOccasional support to engineering teams, especially in the case of contractual exchanges with Material and Time suppliers where there is a need to provide a global vision of all requirementsEnsure that the services delivered by the teams meet the needs of the project in terms of cost and timeClose monitoring of costs and deadlines (schedule / cost information) for feedback of the issues to the various project functions and / or the project itself, and to ensure the best possible solutions for maintaining project performance indicators (BV / CP, CPI, SPI)Preferred Role RequirementsThe Engineering team encourage diversity of thought and welcome applications of candidates with transferable skills that can be applied to our projects, therefore, there are no minimum role requirements and candidates will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.The preferred role requirements are as follows:Relevant Engineering degree, and be a Chartered EngineerRecognised SMEHold a minimum of ‘SC’ UK Security ClearancePrevious experience in a Nuclear Site or other highly regulated siteBehavioural Qualities RequiredProactivity – ability to independently seek out or develop one’s own answer to challenging technical questionsQuestioning attitude – ability to analyse situations and challenge the conditions, activities or solutions to support continuous improvement and develop areas of best practiceOrganisational excellence – ability to organise one’s own time and the time of others to ensure internal / external deadlines are achieved and Client expectations are exceededReactivity - ability to respond quickly and effectively to unforeseen situationsIntegrity and Inclusivity – ability to take responsibility for one’s own actions and foster an inclusive working environment where all members of the team are respected and given equal opportunity to participateLeadership - desire to lead and support the development of more junior members of the teamWhy work for Orano LimitedOrano’s purpose is to provide customers with high performing products and services throughout the nuclear fuel cycle, thereby fully contributing to the efficient production of low-carbon nuclear energy, cancer-fighting radioisotopes, and innovative industrial applications.Globally headquarters in Paris, with 16,000 employees worldwide, Orano includes eight primary business lines: Mining; Conversion and Enrichment; Logistics, for managing used nuclear fuel; Recycling and Nuclear Waste Management; Decommissioning and Dismantling; Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering; Operations Support, including radiological safety; and Nuclear Medicine.These fuel cycle activities are of strategic importance to both the French nuclear sector and all customers operating reactors worldwide.
