Principal Engineer - Highways and Infrastructure

Our client, is seeking a Principal Engineer - Highways and Infrastructure to join their team on a contract basis. This role demands a professional who can lead, manage, and deliver highways and infrastructure projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and high design standards.Key Responsibilities:Lead and be accountable for the development and delivery of highways and infrastructure projectsOperate with little supervision, taking full ownership of decision-making and outcomesManage and coordinate multiple projects/programmes simultaneouslyLead and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, both internal and externalProvide strategic direction and technical leadership across all schemesEnsure compliance with Local Authority governance processesEngage confidently in a politically sensitive environmentLead stakeholder engagement, including funding bodiesDevelop, secure, and manage external funding and business casesOversee and approve scheme estimates, budgets, cost control, and financial reportingLead procurement processes and manage consultant and contractor performanceProvide technical assurance and sign-off on all highways and drainage designsEnsure designs are buildable and aligned with delivery constraintsManage programme, risk, and resource allocation across all schemesApply and oversee the use of highways design standardsMaintain oversight of transport modelling inputs and scheme impactsLead public consultation and stakeholder engagement ..... full job details .....
