Principal Engineer

Are you an experienced Highways Engineer looking to step into a leadership role where you can influence projects, mentor engineers and help shape the future of a growing team?

We''re working with a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that is looking to appoint a Principal Design Lead to join its Civil Engineering team in either Cardiff or Bristol.

Working closely with the Associate Director, you''ll lead the delivery of highways design projects, provide technical guidance to the team and play a key role in developing engineers while maintaining excellent relationships with clients.

The Role

• Lead the delivery of highways design projects from concept through to completion.
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.
• Work closely with the Associate Director to support the growth and development of the team.
• Produce and review technical designs, drawings and reports.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and the highest technical standards.

What We''re Looking For

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in highways design within a consultancy environment.
• Experience leading projects and supporting junior engineers.
• Good working knowledge of UK highways design standards.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Chartered status or working towards Chartership would be advantageous.
