In this role you will work daily with technical experts within our Environmental Impact (EIA) team across the UK and Ireland. We are a founding member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) EIA Quality Mark, and everything we do aligns with our ESG strategy. This is a national role with flexible office locations and a hybrid working model. Office locations include: Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington.
At AECOM, we’re at the forefront of innovation and manage environmental inputs to large-scale development projects that transform infrastructure. This includes:
Energy generation projects, including carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and renewables (such as large scale solar and floating offshore wind)
Energy distribution and transmission projects (including projects forming part of the Great Grid Upgrade)
Carbon capture pipelines
Strategic national and regional rail projects
Highway improvements and greenway projects
Regeneration projects, including portside developments
Developments within ecommerce, minerals and waste, water, defence, aviation, commercial/residential and industrial sectors
Responsibilities
Provide Expertise:
As a
Principal Environmental Consultant , manage environmental inputs to EIA screening and scoping reports, environmental assessments/Environmental Statements (and future Environmental Outcomes Reports) and supporting documents, including technical review of specialist chapters. Involve across project life cycles from strategy to operation, and work on multiple consenting regimes (DCO, TCPA, TWA, hybrid Bill, etc.).
Ensure Quality:
Ensure deliverables meet high quality standards and comply with quality management procedures.
Project Management:
Manage resources and budgets with support as applicable.
Collaborate:
Integrate with design teams to improve environmental outcomes, identify constraints, mitigation solutions, and opportunities for benefit.
Client Contact:
Manage client relationships and internal supply teams.
Growth:
Promote AECOM’s environmental services, identify and lead business development opportunities, and develop fee and technical proposals.
QualificationsReady to push the limits of what’s possible?
To apply, demonstrate experience in managing and coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs to infrastructure projects. You should also have:
Experience of providing consultancy services
Excellent understanding of EIA processes, environmental assessment methods and applicable planning legislation
Detailed understanding of relevant consenting and licensing regimes
Confidence engaging with diverse stakeholder groups
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and coordinate inputs from specialist teams
Excellent verbal and report writing skills, including technical reviewing
Project management skills including programming, resource and budget management
Degree in a relevant environmental discipline (Masters preferred) and appropriate professional membership
Willingness to travel
The following would be a bonus:
Chartered Environmentalist status
Interest in line management duties and staff mentoring
Experience of the DCO and/or TWAO consenting regimes
