Principal Data Engineer

At Specsavers, we''re looking for a Principal Data Engineer (MDM) to lead the design, evolution, and delivery of our global Master Data Management capability, at the heart of our data strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape how master data is created, governed, and consumed across the business. You''ll act as the technical authority for MDM, building scalable, multi-domain capabilities that support both operational excellence and customer experience. We''re particularly interested in candidates with proven experience delivering Customer MDM within complex, enterprise environments. In this role, you''ll lead the engineering design and hands-on implementation of our MDM platform, with a focus on tools such as Stibo STEP. You''ll design and evolve data models, matching and merging rules, workflows, and validation frameworks to ensure data is accurate, trusted, and fit for purpose. You''ll work closely with product and business stakeholders to deliver flexible, scalable solutions aligned to real needs. You''ll thrive if you''re a player-coach - comfortable being hands-on while setting direction and mentoring others.
