Principal Consultant, Power Systems (Birmingham City Centre)

Overview

Hitachi Energy has an exciting new opportunity for a Principle Consultant, Power Systems. You\''ll be responsible for the development of advisory projects for major electricity sector agents, including distribution, transmission, retailer, and generators, helping them deal with regulatory, economic, and electricity challenges. Assists in the building and retention of long-lasting relationships with internal and external customers to support profitable growth and ongoing satisfaction.Please note this position is of a hybrid nature (2/3 days working out of our central Birmingham office). Identifying opportunities for new and repeating consulting business, building an internal and external network for the exchange of informationCreating added value for customers and the organization, ensuring the successful outcome of transactions, contracts and proposals, using a series of sales techniques, and negotiating tactics for leading of sales activitiesProposing research and development projects including the scope of the budget, supporting the project management strategy including production, modularization and following up on new products/solutions, including ongoing support with contract management activitiesConducts risk and opportunities for the various assessments, ensuring delivery of the assignment as per agreed contractLeads in the creation of new process and tool enhancement following the study of advanced techniques, with a lead to coach and develop sub-ordinate colleaguesYour background

Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical power systems or similar, is requiredAdvanced degrees preferred (Masters, PhD, MBA)Written and oral fluency EnglishMore than 10 years’ experience in the design, understanding and performance of power systems studiesExperience in the design, understanding and performance of power systems studies with consulting approachExperience proposing solutions on BESS, FACTS, E-mobility, smart city, electrical transmission and distribution planningPower systems expertise, equipment knowledge and elaboration of proposals on energy policy and regulation designManagement, leadership and advising of private companies and public agencies on the fields of regulation, operation and strategy in energy sector at a national and international levelDeveloping strong customer and partner relationships, both external and internal. Commercial acumen with a proactive approach to problem solving and ability to successfully persuade and influence senior management teams complete your profileCommercial skills, including pricing and negotiatingKnowledge in power systems analysis, as well as experience in software simulation tools such as PSS/E (power systems), DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSCAD, ETAP and NEPLANRequires strong knowledge on the application of technical and business-related consulting for the power market and the impacts of products, equipment and engineering concepts and practices as contributors to potential recommended solutions. Proven experience in creating opportunities in the marketExperience and knowledge of the electric power industry, market, systems and equipment.
