An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated senior Clinical Scientist to become Deputy Head of our Magnetic Resonance and Ultrasound Physics Team at Barts Health. We are looking for a Scientist working as an MRSE, with previous experience in U/S and interest in developing both MRI and U/S governance. We are committed to providing our patients with outstanding care and seek a clinical scientist who shares this vision.The MRI and US team is a friendly and dedicated team who work hard to engage with Imaging throughout the organisation to ensure the safety of staff, patients and visitors to the Trust. The team are involved with all aspects of MRI equipment life cycle and developing support of U/S scanners (-400 items). There is a strong commitment to innovation, research and development and existing links with Queen Mary University, King''s College Hospital and other Academic Trusts in the London Region.The purpose of the post is to aid the Head in the leadership of the Magnetic Resonance (MR) and Ultrasound (U/S) Physics team.Interview date 10th October 2025The post holder will aid the Head in responsibility for the provision of MR and U/S Physics services to the Trust and the management of the associated staff. They will aid in the provision of scientific and technical support to all MRI and U/S systems within the Trust (St Bartholomew Hospital, Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross, Newham University Hospital and Mile End CDC) and any additional systems under external contract.The postholder will support MRI and U/S research in the Trust and undertake collaborative work with associated academic institutions when required. In collaboration with consultant medical practitioners and leading academics, the post holder will undertake the implementation of innovative leading-edge clinical MR methods and U/S diagnostic techniques.The postholder will initiate and provide high quality teaching and training of junior clinical scientists within the national training programs and support the training of Trust staff in the safe use of MRI systems.The postholder will act as a MR Safety Expert (MRSE) to the Trust, and will be the named MRSE for particular trust sites.Responsibilities

Aid the Head in the leadership of the MR and U/S Physics team and the provision of MR and U/S Physics services to the Trust.Manage/advise on scientific and technical support for MRI and U/S systems across Trust sites and external contracts.Lead or contribute to MRI and U/S research and collaborate with academic partners to implement innovative clinical MR and U/S techniques.Provide teaching and training to junior clinical scientists and Trust staff in safe MRI practice.Serve as MR Safety Expert (MRSE) for the Trust and oversee MRSE duties at designated sites.Additional information
